Oil Production in Danan Oilfield Increases by 200%
Danan oilfield was discovered in 1971, used to be operating with 9 wells before it was handed over to Iranian MAPNA Group. But now with the drilling of 11 new wells, the second phase of the development of this field has ended, and the daily oil production in this field has increased by about 8,000 to 10,000 barrels per day (bpd).
The development plan in the oil field was carried out by MAPNA which relied on the internal manpower, expertise and capabilities while the country was under the oppressive sanctions.
The measures taken in the second phase of Danan oilfield development by MAPNA included the completion of drilling 11 wells with 3 drilling oil rigs in the field, construction of flow pipelines for 11 wells and construction of manifold, and construction of power transmission lines etc.
“The Dananoil field development project began in 2017 and this contract was defined in the form of 12 work packages. This field is one of the 28 oil field projects outlined by the National Iranian Oil Company. Considering the progress made, it is the most successful project among those projects,” Amiri, the project manager of the Danan oilfield project of the MAPNA Group Company said during a visit to the oilfield.
"MAPNA Group advanced the work …, the wells were drilled and were put into operation. The 12th package was the geophysical operation of the field, which started from the beginning of the project, meaning that an area of about 470 square kilometers went under geophysical operation. First the geophysical data collection operation was carried out, and next the processing and interpretation stages were followed,” he added while emphasizing that the Danan project was the first project among other 28 oilfield plans, which was completed with 11 wells.
According to the project manager the Danan oilfield project, after finishing the construction of the skid mounted desalination unit, the oil production capacity of the oilfield will increase by 10,000 barrels per day by the yearend. He added that based on the estimates, the project will be delivered by the end of this year I Iranian calendar (March 21, 2024).
“Three drilling rigs were working in this project and we drilled 11 wells with these three rigs and the last drilling was completed in August 2023.”
Danan oil field is situated 30 kilometers Southeast of Dehloran in Ilam province and 80 kilometers Northwest of Andimeshk in Khuzestan province in the Southwestern part of Iran.
