According to a report by the website of the Vice Presidency for Science, Technology and Knowledge-Based Economy, Vahid Daneshgarzadeh, CEO & Board member Shahab road holding instruments company, said that their draisines are in fact a rail vehicle that is designed and manufactured to move people and loads on railroads.

A draisine is a light auxiliary rail vehicle, driven by service personnel or own user, equipped to transport crew and material necessary for the maintenance of railway infrastructure.

“This rail vehicle is developed to transport people and cargo and it is designed in two passenger and cargo classes. The passenger variant is like a minibus with a capacity of 16 people and a cargo model is like a truck with a load capacity of 2.5 tons and also capable of carrying 6 people,” he added.

He said that their Iran-made draisine is designed to meet domestic companies needs.

“Currently, 100 people are working directly and hundreds of people indirectly in engine and gearbox production factories in Iran, and also in manufacturers of paint, bolt and nut and related industries,” Daneshgarzadeh said about the jobs created by their holding.

Saying that Shahab Road Holding Instruments Co is the only company that has begun mass producing of the draisines in Iran, the CEO added that their railroad vehicle is a knowledge-based product.
