“My main activity is in the research laboratory of modern biological and pharmaceutical technologies of Islamic Azad University, Jahrom branch, in the field of extraction and purification of proteins and enzymes, synthesis of pharmaceutical compounds and systems based on biophysics, biochemistry, bioinformatics, biotechnology and nanotechnology,” Samaneh Zolqadr told ANA.

She described synthesis of pharmaceutical nanosystems, extraction and optimization of natural pigments, extraction of proteins and enzymes from human, animal, plant and micro-organism sources as her other activities in this area.

“Currently, we are working on various projects on stabilization of natural pigments and enzymes, identification of optimal formulations for making lightening creams, synthesis of liposomal gels with antioxidant and antibacterial properties by using nanotechnology know-how in the form of research projects, master's theses and doctoral theses, and domestic and international collaborations,” Zolqadr underlined.

Skin lightening creams, also known as skin brightening creams, are designed to lighten skin color. The creams are often used to spot-treat dark areas of the skin, such as age spots or acne scars. They are sometimes used to lighten the complexion overall.

While these creams can be prescribed for specific skin conditions, they can have side effects. The risks can be serious, specially with over-the-counter creams that may not be tested for safety.
